Yesterday I was an elected official, running in a race for re-election. Today, I am a lame duck, ready to resume my previous career as a radical feminist bookseller with too many pets.
Democrats lost big yesterday. We haven't had this few seats in Congress since 1928. This should serve as a wake-up call to Democrats.
My theory is that we lost big not because we are too liberal, but because we are not liberal enough. Why would anyone want to vote for Republican-lite when you have the Tea Party? So I am taking a pledge, and all and sundry are welcome to join me. No more anti-choice, anti-gay marriage, anti-repeal of DADT, anti-marijuana, anti-health care for all, pro-rich people Democrats. In short, No More Blue Dogs.
